What a Love - A Mother's Day Poem
What a Love - A Mother's Day Poem
by Lana Couder Quintero
As a lady becomes a mother something happens to her mind, heart and body that has never happened before. She has this desire to protect, to nurture, share her wisdom and give unconditional love she never thought existed in her MIND, HEART AND BODY for her baby. A tight rope of LOVE is then created between the mother and her baby. She does all the things she never thought she was capable of doing and stays up endless hours to ensure her baby’s needs are met and gives all of her mind, heart and body.
As a mother sees her baby become a child there is sense of protection that she wants to provide so that nothing will harm her child mentally, emotionally or physically as they grow. She must hold, hug, kiss, guide and say “no” at times. She must cut one strand of the rope as her child takes their first steps, begins to speak in full sentences, and asks those curious questions in order for them to achieve their individuality and independence.
As a mother sees her child develop into a teenager there is a sense of nurturing that she must provide so that her teenager will be able to handle daily life changes and challenges that occur in a teenagers mind, heart and body. She must say: ”You are an overcomer, you are uniquely made, you have great gifts, love yourself and most of I love you no matter what anyone said or thinks about you.” She must cut another strand of rope as her teenager must start facing real life situations that a mother can no longer shield or shelter them from what they must experience to understand others in this life.
As a mother sees her teenager become a young adult there is a sense for her to share wisdom and life experiences so that they will be equipped with the confidence to know they are capable to fulfill their God given purpose or calling in their life. She still is concerned, has an absence in her home and has extra time she didn’t have before. She must find something meaningful to fill her day. She must cut one more strand therefore she can only pray and trust that God will guide her child's mind, heart and body in the path He has prepared for them.
Lastly, as a mother sees her young adult become an adult there is a sense for her to give unconditional love no matter what decisions, actions or words are chosen and whether they were great or not so great. See, a mother is thankful to God for allowing her this beautiful experience of unconditional love and understands the width, the depth and the limitless love God has extended to us. So she always has that one strand of rope that attaches her to her BABY no matter what. As a woman she feels complete in her MIND, HEART, BODY and SOUL as she continues to experience and give unconditional love to the fullest to her daughter or her son that has no end.
Happy Mother's Day!
